HOW WE MAKE IT?
HOW WE MAKE IT
From an idea to a piece with identity.
Every RaphaL piece begins with an idea, a fabric, a shape. We explore contrasts, textures and proportions to create original designs that balance expression, comfort and freedom of movement.
The design & the prototype
The process starts with sketches and pattern making. We then create a prototype to explore how the garment fits, falls and moves on the body. Details are tested and refined before the design becomes part of the collection.
The fabrics
We select high-quality Portuguese fabrics and deadstock materials — existing fabrics left over from previous productions. Working with what is available inspires unexpected combinations and means some designs can only be made in very limited quantities.
The making
Each garment is cut and sewn individually, with time dedicated to assembling its panels, shaping its volume and finishing its details. Depending on the design, contrasting textures, raw edges, draping or adjustable elements become part of its character.
Because our pieces are handmade, small variations in details and print placement may occur. These differences are part of the individuality of each garment.
The fit
Our designs explore generous silhouettes, asymmetric lines and no-gender shapes, alongside more fitted pieces. For personalised orders, we can adapt measurements and explore different fabric combinations, depending on availability.
The final details
Before dispatch, each piece is checked, finished and carefully prepared for its journey to you.
For pieces made to order, please allow 2–3 weeks for production from order confirmation and receipt of the initial payment.
We create in small quantities, giving each design the time and attention it deserves.
Quality over Quantity. Not trend, identity.
